Crew at Multinational Oil & Gas Company Exhibit Strong Commitment to Bsafe Program

No one knows safety like Brock! There’s no better example of this than on July 22, 2020 during a Site Safety Meeting at one of our multinational oil & gas customers sites, when Brock Site Leadership presented four HER0 Gold Coin Awards to employees going above and beyond. These coins were given for four different Hazards/Concerns identified and properly corrected in a 3 day period by four different workers. A strong commitment to the HER0 Program is certainly evident at this site. Below is each HER0 incident:

1. July 13th, Tracy Gullage identified an error on a work permit for EA 121/fa 113 by Operations that didn’t encompass the work task the crew was performing. Tracy got up with Operations and brought it to their attention. The work permit was corrected.

2. July 14, Jeremy Malbrugh was performing a job walk on BA 105 Heater Roof and noticed that a contract crew had removed the roof panel and had no proper tie-off point. Jeremy got with Operations and the job was shut down. A handrail system for tying-off was erected for the contract crew so the job task could be completed safely.

3. July 14, Randy Denson was performing a job walk when he noticed multiple insulation blankets hanging by wire on the sixth level of BA-98. The blankets were about to fall down, so Randy got with insulators and asked if they removed the blankets and they had not. The blankets were re-installed to prevent an incident/injury.

4. July 15, Brittney Zanders identified an excavation that was excavated by a contract crew inside the Brock scaffold yard without a proper barricade to prevent someone from falling into it. Brittney took it upon herself to erect the barricade and reported the issue to her supervision.

A huge THANK YOU to all of you!

Brock Industrial’s General Foreman Recognized for Bsafe Impact

While working on the District Energy Tunnel Project in Milwaukee, Brock Industrial crew’s 5X Gas Detectors alerted them of dangerously high levels of CO2 in the air. Immediately Andrew Zollars, General Foreman, evacuated the entire crew from the tunnel in a safe and timely manner. He then contacted our client who sent people down to investigate the situation. He sent the crew home early and stayed on site to assist the client with the problem. It was determined that another contractor removing asbestos in another area of the tunnel had moved containments causing a disruption in the air flow and allowing the CO2 to build up. When their negative air machines were turned on it pushed all the CO2 into the tunnel where Brock crews were working. Thank you Andrew for your ability to identify the severity of the situation and react in a professional manner to get all of our employees home safe. You are a true testament to our Bsafe culture!

Brock Industrial Completes Major Turnaround

Hat’s off to the BIS crew for successfully and safely completing a major turnaround at one of our customers refinery’s. From May 22- July 20 the crew worked 76,155 hours without a single incident, injury, or first aid. There was a tremendous amount of difficult and challenging work completed during this time and to finish this strong was a major accomplishment. We are extremely proud of the way that supervision, safety and our crews stepped up and performed flawlessly. This is a true testament of the Bsafe and Bbest culture. Keep up the good work team!

Spotlight: Brock Canada Women in the Trades

July 27th may have seemed like another normal day of work, but for Susan Hubrich, 4th year apprentice scaffolder, it was not. Susan’s site supervisor, Donnie Cameron, had changed up the crews for the day, as is done often, and it so happened that Susan was put in charge of a her first all-female scaffolding crew that included 1st year scaffold apprentices Candace Cameron and Yuliya Pysarchuk. Taking advantage of each other’s skills sets and Susan taking the chance to share what she had learned over the years with new comers, the women had a day filled with a deeper understanding of Brock’s safety culture, scaffold building and dismantling, and a passing/absorbing of knowledge. Susan said of her day, “It was a stressless day, with lots of communication, knowledge, and good work ethics. It was an awesome day!” Site supervisor Donnie Cameron had this to say of the women, “Susan, Candace and Yuliya are so proud to be scaffolding for Brock and I am proud to provide a workplace where they can mentor and learn to enhance their skills.”

Thank you Susan, Candace, and Yuliya for your hard work and dedication to your craft and to Brock.
