Awards and Recognitions

  • The 60-person Brock Services, LLC (BSL) Region 3 crew at Koch Nitrogen, Fort Dodge, IA, was recently honored for their zero incident performance during the site’s month-long turnaround in July. The Koch Fertilizer Inc. Turnaround Award for Safety Excellence recognized BSL for achieving Koch’s goal of “Aim for Zero.” BSL has worked at Koch Nitrogen for two and a half years.
  • Atlantic Plant Services, Inc. (APS) received the 2012 Safety Excellence Award from International Titanium Powder, Woodridge, IL, for performing 257,000 work hours with zero recordable incidents.
  • Steeplejack Services (Contracting) Ltd. received 11 monthly safety flags during its one-year Suncor Firebag DSU 8000 Stage 4 contract in the Canadian oil sands near Ft. McMurray, AB.
  • Brock Services, LLC (BSL) Region 1 took first place in the Large Company – Soft Crafts category for 2012 at the Greater Baton Rouge (LA) Industry Alliance (GBRIA) Awards banquet.
  • Miken Specialities, Ltd. received the Contractor’s Safety Excellence Award in the NAICS Code 238 (Construction: Specialty Trade Contractors) category at the 13th annual Gulf Coast Safety Council Awards. Miken was nominated by Dow Chemical St. Charles, LA, Operations.
  • Brock Services, LLC (BSL) Region 2 received two honors at the 17th annual Industrial Safety Training Council Safety Awards banquet, recognized for 2 million hours worked and 1 year worked OSHA recordable-free.
  • Brock Services, LLC (BSL) Region 3 at LyondellBasell Morris, IL, received the Three Rivers Manufacturing Association 2012 Merit Award.
  • Brock Services, LLC (BSL) Region 1 was recognized in March for achieving three years – 1.5 million hours – without a recordable injury at the Valero St. Charles, LA, refinery.
  • For the tenth time, Miken Specialties Ltd. received the Best in Class, Specialty Contractor – Soft Crafts Large award from the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR).

Brock Voluntary Protection Program Director Larry McElroy received the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR), an association of refining, chemical and energy companies dedicated to continuous improvements in safety, engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance.

14 of our 18 VPP sites were honored by the Voluntary Protection Program Participants’ Association (VPPPA) during their annual regional safety conferences.

To earn these awards, in the previous year the site must have TCIR and DART rates 50 percent (Star Among Stars), 75 percent (Super Star Among Stars) or 90 percent (Star of Excellence) below the national Bureau of Labor Statistics rate for their NAICS craft code.

  • Brock Flint Hills received one of only three OSHA Director’s Awards for Safety Excellence, the first time a Brock Company has been so honored.
  • As the result of client nominations, Brock Companies received 57 Safety Merit Awards – more than double our nearest competitor — at the American Fuel and Petrochemicals Manufacturers (AFPM, formerly the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association) National Occupational and Process Safety Conference and Exhibition.
  • Brock Services, LLC won the Best in Class Safety Excellence Award at the Houston Business Roundtable’s (HBR) 25th annual Safety Excellence Award Banquet. In addition, previous award winner Miken Specialties was acknowledged as a 2012 Mentor Organization.
